Our Story

Where Tranquility Meets Elegance

It Started With A View

Back in '92, our founder Margaret Quinth stood at this exact spot on Lakeshore Drive and just... knew. The way the morning light hits the water, how the mountains cradle the shoreline - she couldn't walk away from it.

What started as a modest 12-room inn has grown into something we're genuinely proud of. We've expanded, sure, but never at the cost of what made this place special. Every guest still gets that same view Margaret fell for, and honestly? It never gets old.

Not Your Typical Resort

Look, we could tell you we're award-winning or world-class - and yeah, there are plaques on the wall. But what we're really about is creating those moments where you just... exhale.

Maybe it's your first coffee on a private balcony watching mist rise off the lake. Or that post-hike massage where you actually fall asleep. Could be the salmon dish our chef David won't shut up about (in a good way). These aren't scripted experiences - they just happen when you mix the right location with people who genuinely care.

The Details Matter

We're a bit obsessive about the small stuff. Egyptian cotton sheets because polyester's just wrong. Local ingredients in the restaurant because why ship salmon to Whistler? Soundproofed rooms because your neighbor's 6am wake-up call shouldn't be yours too.

Spaces That Tell Stories

What We're Actually About

People Over Policies

Yeah, we've got rules, but we're not robots about it. Late checkout because your flight got moved? We'll make it work. Need a hypoallergenic pillow at 11pm? Already on it. Our staff's empowered to solve problems, not quote policy manuals.

Sustainability That's Real

We're not perfect, but we're trying. Solar panels on the roof, a massive composting operation, partnerships with local farms. If you don't want your sheets changed daily, cool - the lake thanks you. No greenwashing, just actual effort.

Local Everything

From the art on the walls to the honey at breakfast, it's all from BC. We figure if you wanted generic hotel stuff, you'd have stayed in the city. Plus, supporting neighbors just feels right.

No Fake Fancy

Luxury shouldn't feel stuffy. Wear your hiking boots in the lobby, bring sandy kids through after beach time, chat with our chef about recipe tips. We're upscale, not uptight - there's a difference.

Three Decades, Same Mission

Margaret's vision was simple - create a place where people could disconnect from chaos and reconnect with what matters. That hasn't changed. The WiFi's faster now and we've added a yoga pavilion, but the core idea? Still the same.

We've watched guests come for anniversaries, then bring their kids, then their grandkids. That's when you know you're doing something right - when people keep choosing to make memories here.

Come See For Yourself

Words and photos only get you so far. The real deal is standing on that lakeshore at sunrise with a coffee in hand, or sinking into a massage table after a day on the trails. You've gotta experience it.

We're not for everyone - if you need a TV in every room and 24-hour room service, we might not be your spot. But if you want genuine hospitality, stunning nature, and space to just... be? Yeah, we've got that covered.
